I know that this Sketch is going to make Ian and Jeff orgasm, they have been both blowing the new turtles comic non stop.

The Ninja Turtles was a major thng in My childhood that cartoon helped define the person I am right now. Donatello was the first thing I ever remember drawing or painting. So naturally this was a lot of fun for me to draw! Leo wouldn’t ever really do a Stealth assasination but who cares its my Drawing. Personally I am excited for the new cartoon coming out the character designs look super fun and they should be they are fun characters to work with. And I’ll just pretend the Micheal bay movie doesn’t exist.

He’s a little too adult for the kids, and unless Garth Ennis is rocking him in the MAX line, most people don’t really pay attention (or cover price) to the poor guy. He’s good for a laugh or an oh-shit moment here or there, but to keep a monthly series running takes creativity. But I can remember saying out loud, to those who cared to hear, that ‘Franken-Castle’ (wherein the punisher is sewn together and re-animated) was “The WORST storyline idea I had ever heard”.

Oh God. Oh, I was so, so wrong.

I can’t imagine anyone pitching ‘Punisher In Space’ with a straight face, but apparently it exists. So Dann and I decided to jump aboard the gravy train with some ideas for Mr. Castle in 2013.

There are two distinct battles going on in regards to ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’, the first is Marvel’s campaign of insisting that you are either A) an Avenger, or B) an X-Man, the second is the average comic fan’s internal struggle about whether or not to care about AVX in the first place.

The people leading the big two always seem to be about a full year behind what the fans actually want. (See: More titles like Uncanny X-Force, Swamp Thing, Batman, Secret Avengers, and Daredevil). The big crossover events may pad your fiscal quarter, but they cheapen the characters, and weaken the foundation these ‘Houses of Ideas’ are built upon.
So someone call Cap, tell him to circle back and pick up Wolverine, apologize to him, and go back and get on with your lives. Contrary to popular belief, we’ll all get along ok if we just IGNORE the Phoenix Force.

Well, today sees the final issue of the Bendis/Maleev run of ‘Moon Knight’ a series I was quite fond of, and actually posted about earlier last month. But lacking the fiscal enormity to purchase 10,000 copies monthly left me with little recourse but to accept the quiet fate of Konshu’s servant. Konshu? More like Clown Shoe, am I right? (I throw up my hands and wince when it comes near, for I know nothing of the witchcraft contained within).

As any comic fan can tell you, the ‘Pull List’ closely mirrors a living, breathing organism. And sometimes, branches need to be pruned. And I entertain these thoughts earlier and earlier as the years go on, sometimes to failure (I stopped getting the new ‘Swamp Thing’ after 3 issues) and success (I quit ‘Red Lanterns’ after one ish). But I will miss Astonishing X-Men in my box every week. But I realized I was holding on to the idea that it could be as great as Joss Whedon made it, or Warren Ellis after him. I’d rather spend time on the next great titles like Avenging Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider and Uncanny X-Force than pretend I’ll ever like Thunderbolts again.

But you CAN choose to ignore them. The assertion that these somehow sully the name of the iconic tome is pooping-in-your-own-hand crazy. I’ll be the first to admit that ‘Caddyshack 2’ is a virtual rape of ones eyeballs, but it would NEVER tarnish the original. So I’m able to maintain my sanity in the face of this unimaginable tragedy. So everyone take a puff off your inhaler and maybe point your righteous indignation at something more worthwhile.

You’ll agree with me.

Having said my peace, a reputation like hers is certainly tough to live down. Especially since the only fuzzy green thing that gets tossed around more is when I wash my sons Kermit the Frog doll.

A few months ago, Jeff (Of IC3 fame) put me on to the TMNT reboot, and I have to say, nothing makes me feel like a giddy, 34 year-old manchild more than this book. It’s great. Please go out and buy the issues if you haven’t already, I promise you’ll enjoy them.

I have been watching Sentai and Rider shows for about 7 years now and i love it. so to show my love i drew Red Buster from the newest series Tokumei Sentai Gobusters. So please enjoy!

You’ll get a comic every Wednesday, and we’re going to try to post my articles and Dann’s artwork as often as possible. From all of this, we gleaned a few key points that helped us make informed decisions on what shape the ‘FNG’ would take:

The New York Comic Con (NYCC) celebrated its 6^thbirthday this year, and hosted 100,000 people over four days. It’s obviously cemented itself as the east coast’s answer to Sand Diego, (only swap the seagulls out for some scary ass pigeons) and I will say with complete sincerity that I enjoyed it every bit as
much as it’s western counterpart.

But good Christ, that food court needs work.

I’m not saying that I would NEVER pay ten dollars for a quesadilla, but when I do, I DON’T expect a wet cheese sock
stuffed with snausages. This was less like a Mexican appetizer and more like really firm soup. But I digress! First order of the day was hitting the LOCKE & KEY pilot screening, something I had missed twice at SDCC. With Jeff Breakdown (of the Incompetent Comic Cabal Cast) in tow, we emerged from the screening room an hour later in agreement that while promising, it needs to be skewed towards a more mature audience. Last I heard, the pilot was still being shopped around, but don’t hold your breath. (Check the trailer here).

Almost immediately after getting on the main floor, I began to wander around the relocated (and much expanded) gaming area. After sampling the 10-year anniversary re-issue of Grand Theft Auto 3 for the iPad (which, oddly, plays amazing,) we were ushered into the live demonstration of ‘Max Payne 3’ which hits spring of next year. The cut-scenes look ‘L.A. Noire’ quality, but there wasn’t any online co-op talk.

Rockstar Games, as usual, had the best music on the show floor.

Infinity Ward was noticeably absent, but Turtle Beach was running demos of Modern Warfare 3 on some of their new hardware. 5 hours later I emerge from the soft glow of the machines with crippled hands and bleeding eyeballs. I gathered my small crew and left; I had done enough damage to myself for one day.

I mean sure, I got to meet Actor/Director Clark Gregg (squeee!), and finally got around to picking up Morrison’s ‘New X-Men’ but all that paled in comparison to the tasty delights the triple-A publishers were parading around. GTA 3 on the
iPad? Halo: CE? Darkness 2? (You had to be 17 to even get IN the booth!) Star Wars: KOTOR with a REALISTIC release date? We need to shift the focus of this comic over a few degrees this week…

Yes, I am slated to get it, an yes I am super thrilled it will be new turf, new tactics, and new feature sets, however I have to throw this out there. Treyarch http://www.treyarch.com/ is the developer behind blackops (blops) and infinity ward is the developer crew behind Modern Warefare3 http://www.infinityward.com/. If you have played BLOPS and MW2 you will def. be able to agree with me that from a graphics standpoint there are HUGE differences, Modern Warefare, seems a bit too cartoonist. Treyarch BLOPS not so much. Oh and they have decided that MW3 will use add confirmed kills to the games for XP, still on the fence on that one. Yes one more tactical item to consider but is there value in that for all game playing styles in MW3, so is this really just an add on, that isn’t really adding on? Personally from playing BLOPS for the last 8 months, non stop, I would like to see a more accurate scoring system when it comes to late grenade launches from handheld grenades, I would also like to see DLC include not only new maps, but new weapons, both tactical and handheld. There should also be the ability to go ninja stealth and crush an opponent by crack ing their spine, similar to www.halo.com. actually an additional allotment of new weapons for the DLC would make the DLC’s 110% more worthwhile. Its a shame cause I know a few things about this serious based on my above points are going to disappoint, graphically speaking and from a map vector space quadrant, your still gonna be limited. Yes, camping spots, choke points, but still without the inclusion of new weapons or new tactile games I think these series are going to run out of steam

last but not least, the online player tracking check in point scoring system self improvement system is completely lame. Just replace BLOPS with PACMAN, and do you still see the value add? This is about technique, logic, and not playing the game like every other COD player. Not player tracking and statistics aggregation.

I mean its not like I wouldn’t fit in as a standard comic book reader, it’s just plain and simple I don’t have the free time. A majority of my free time(outside of 60+hr workweeks) goes to career development in the vein of certification advancement or just understanding how technology works. Now some of you more technically savvy users here might ask well why is the site design not exactly tip top, and to that I have to add, I have a specialization that does not deal with developing code. I work more with companies such as www.netapp.com or www.vmware.com building out large scale “cloud” or “private cloud” environments, totoally unrelated to development.

My initial post here is basically to explain my background, I think the intent of the rest of my posts on this site is namely to keep it within the guise of movies and video games. I do have to give a huge amount of credit to Ian, he turned me on to xbox live a few years ago and since then I have not been able to control that desire to see the next great video game. and a hidden bonus is when we get our online crew together to have some laughs or win a few battles it makes playing online multiplayer that much more worth it. I have been friends with Ian for quite sometime and having the ability to rock some Black Ops once or twice a week with the man is a very nice perk for me during the week, being that we live in complete separate corners of the East Coast.

I can also tell you Ian and can have 2 hour discussion on films or video games that most techie types would probably enjoy to hear so why not bring something new to the surface here at BNB? I’d still like to keep it comic centric, but have a slice of something that I am 99.9% certain most comic readers participate in which is of course gaming and movies.
